You won’t find a Medjool date crammed into a box with a fork in the middle. It is far too perfect.

Medjool dates are a large, plump variety with a soft and succulent flesh that became known as the ‘Fruit of Kings’ hundreds of years ago. They are so sweet and rich that they were prized above all other dates; reserved only for royalty and their guests, the commoners settling for a drier, less decadent variety.

Although many associate dates with Christmas, you can find them all year round. As they ripen they turn from a bright red/yellow colour to a deep brown, bursting with a deep and delicious caramel flavour. Medjools are rich in natural sweetness, fibre and potassium as well as many other vitamins and minerals, which means there is no reason not to eat them every day, as a naturally sweet treat and healthy snack.
